Sony to Produce PlayStation3 in China

According to Jiji Press, Sony plans to produce PlayStation3 game consoles in China, aiming to reduce its production costs and to boost production capacity for the company's new offering. This marks the first time that Sony will produce a new game console outside of Japan before its official market launch. The PlayStation3 is expected to hit the market in late 2006, and Sony expects to ship six million units in the first five months after the official market launch.
